MASS AVE PAINTBOX 2009 Harrison and Mass Ave, Boston

In coordination with the Boston Arts Commission, Bluebrick Studios participated in a community improvement and public arts program this past Spring. This city sponsored program works closely with local artists to create works of art on otherwise unsightly city owned utility boxes, traffic signal boxes, and the like. These large, hulking metal boxes are often defaced and sticker covered and can be a real eyesore on the urban landscape.

Through the Paintbox Program, I was given the opportunity to combine my nature painting series with the raw urban grit of these utility boxes and create public works of art.

When painted and varnished properly a Mural can last for several years.
